MULTITASKING FUN WITH YUNA Yuna finishes her grid eventually, and when mine had reached the end of hers, I figured it was time for a little fun. Maybe I’m a complete geek for it, but I find nothing more amusing than watching Yuna smack a gigantic Behemoth King with her little rod and do thousands of damage. It’s also equally entertaining to have Yuna become a sort of Jill-of-all-trades, capable of handling any enemy no matter how great or small. By the end of my experimentations, Yuna was all I needed for every battle onward. Single-handedly, she did everyone else’s job, and did it well. I suppose that’s the beauty of the Sphere Grid system, though. No one is confined to a particular role. You can easily have Yuna take on several. I think my best advice though is to teach her the higher elemental black magic spells as soon as you can. For me, this was as early as the Calm Lands upon leaving Bevelle. Use your black magic spheres and teach Yuna the spells Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga. Watch as she does double the damage Lulu does. Why? Well duh, Yuna has a higher magic stat than Lulu. Any magic you choose to teach her is going to kick a lot of ass. It’s definitely a worthy investment. I usually send her through Lulu’s grid, since Lulu gets so many evasion bonuses in addition to key spells. To further arm our little girl with useful weapons, teach her Mental Break, Hastega, Osmose, Doublecast, and Auto-Life. Make sure you equip her with No-MP cost, it’s always a good idea. With these in her arsenal, you can probably safely take on most any enemy with only Yuna. Anyone she can’t handle, her aeons probably can. In terms of aeons, I always dote on Shiva, whose speed and evasiveness make her perfect for my fighting style. I always teach Shiva NulBlaze, NulShock, NulFrost, and NulTide (never underestimate the power of the elemental-nulling spells…they’re so handy in a pinch!) first, followed by Reflex, Haste, Shell, and Protect. With the exception of the match in which you are forced to battle her, all my Belgemine battles were fought using Shiva. I mean, come on. None of Belgemine’s aeons will be able to touch you. Valefor will keep on missing as long as you further abuse Shiva’s already high evasion stat by hitting Reflex over and over again. Then in the Ifrit battle, cast NulBlaze on both Shiva AND Ifrit and watch the fun begin. He’ll be unable to heal himself and also, should he reach overdrive mode, his Hellfire won’t leave a scratch. Plus it’ll most likely send YOU into overdrive as well. I could go on, but I think you see now that Yuna by herself can be a very formidable foe. Hahaha.
